One of the first questions we get from customers is: "Is Unifi available at my address?" It's the right question to ask before committing to anything. Unifi's fibre network is extensive, but it doesn't cover every address in Malaysia — at least, not yet.
Here's everything you need to know about checking coverage and what your options are.
Why Coverage Matters
Unifi uses fibre-optic technology, which requires physical infrastructure to be installed along your street and into your building. Unlike mobile broadband (which works anywhere with a cellular signal), fibre broadband requires the cable to physically reach your home.
If TM's fibre network hasn't been laid to your area yet, you simply won't be able to get Unifi — regardless of which plan you want or how much you're willing to pay.
The Fastest Way to Check: Ask Us Directly

This is also the most accurate method because the public-facing coverage checker tools can sometimes show outdated information — your area might have been recently added to the network, or a new development might not yet be reflected online.
Using the TM Online Coverage Checker
TM provides an official coverage checker at their website. To use it:
- Go to unifi.com.my
- Click on any plan to proceed to sign-up
- Enter your address in the coverage check field
- The system will confirm whether your address is serviceable
Tips for accurate results:
- Use your full address including postcode
- Try different address formats if the first attempt doesn't find a match
- Apartment and condo residents: search by the building name or condo name, not the unit number
What If Your Address Shows as "Not Available"?
Don't give up immediately. Here's what you can do:
1. Try again in a few months. TM is continuously expanding coverage, particularly in new housing developments. What isn't available today may be available within 3–6 months.
2. Check with us directly. Our database may show more up-to-date information than the public checker. We've helped many customers sign up in areas that the public tool incorrectly showed as unavailable.
3. Consider Unifi Air as an alternative. If your address genuinely doesn't have fibre coverage yet, Unifi Air (using wireless technology) may be an option. It provides speeds up to 100Mbps using fixed wireless access, without needing a physical fibre cable to your home.
4. Put in a request. TM accepts coverage expansion requests from residents in unserved areas. A critical mass of requests from the same neighbourhood can accelerate the rollout timeline.
Coverage in New Housing Developments
If you've just moved into a new housing development (a new phase of a housing estate, a new high-rise, or a newly completed landed property), coverage is often added during the construction phase.
In many cases, the fibre infrastructure is already in place and your unit just needs to be activated. The process is faster than a standard new installation — typically 1–3 days from application to activation.

Urban vs. Rural Coverage
Urban areas: Major cities and towns throughout Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah, and Sarawak are well-covered. If you're in Klang Valley, Penang, Johor Bahru, Kota Kinabalu, or any sizeable town, there's an excellent chance Unifi is available at your address.
Suburban areas: Coverage in suburban and commuter belt areas is strong and expanding. Most established residential areas within 50km of major cities are covered.
Rural areas: Coverage is more limited in rural areas, though TM's JENDELA initiative is rapidly expanding rural connectivity. Check directly — you may be pleasantly surprised.
